Hi from Charleston!

Hey  gang! We’re in the Charleston area right now staying at our Priceline hotel – The Wild Dunes (on Palm Island) – and it’s just gorgeous here.  We spent the whole day yesterday exploring downtown Charleston and eating awesome seafood. Today we woke up, took a stoll on the beach and are getting ready to have lunch and kayak. We’re really enjoying this extended weekend getaway. I forgot how much I enjoy this little part of the world. And with Southwest flying directly into Charleston now, it’s an affordable trip even from Chicago. Check it out the next time you’re looking for a vacation destination. Now I gotta go, I’m off to eat some great seafood and check out Shem Creek.

That sounds awesome. I have been there once but would love to go back again. Where are you going kayaking? Any favorite restaurants? Keep us posted.

We kayaked around the Shem Creek area. It was beautiful! I’ll post a few pictures when I get them done. The best restaurant we went to was Huck’s Lowcountry Table on the Isle of Palms – the boullabaisse was amazing! – but it’s a little pricey. We also liked Hominy Grill, Closed for Business (bar), Poe’s Tavern (bar) and Red Drum (fish tacos, but also pretty pricey). It was just so lovely to be on the beach every day and feel the warmth of the sun. We have like no sun in Chicago right now :(
