Your Favorite Budgeting Babe Posts of 2010

Thanks to Google Analytics, here are the most visited posts of 2010 on The Budgeting Babe:
- Letting the Grass Grow. I got a lot of positive feedback on this one from friends and colleagues. The truth is, climbing the corporate ladder isn’t for everyone all of the time. As I’m learning, personal growth can happen outside the office, and when it does, it can be just as rewarding as big career progress. Make time to set your own goals, rather than conform to expectations, and be sure to assess those goals every once in a while. You might be surprised at what you find.
- My Biggest Monthly Expense. Who knew writing about my grocery bill would prove so popular? Actually, this was more about priorities than groceries — as in, since living healthy is one of my biggest priorities right now, maybe it’s OK that it’s also my biggest expense. Budgeting gives us the freedom to make those choices.
- My Budgeting Weakness. This was about how my once cheap hobby — running — has become a more expensive lifestyle choice. The cool thing is that a lot of other fitness enthusiasts saw this, and some even reposted. I like that blogging can bridge two very different worlds in a way that traditional magazines typically don’t (can you imagine Kiplinger’s doing a column about running or triathlons?).
I’m really proud to look at this little selection and see that my most popular items really cover the core focus areas of the site, and of myself: career, money, and living healthy. The fact that these were popular means I’m connecting with community of readers with similar interests who can help encourage me to reach my goals and appreciate the journey along the way. Let’s hope 2011 continues along this happy little path!

My favorite post of all time is from September 28th 2008 called “Time to remember what money cannot buy” that post was a right post at the right time for me (I have a printout of it on my fridge it is all yellow from age and cooking I guess)
On another note I wanted to ask you now after you owned Dyson for what about 3 years or more do you still love it like you did when you just got it? I’m in the market for a new vacuum and I’m considering Dyson pet one (I have 2 cats)

Really!? I just got totally warm and fuzzy from that comment Tanja! I went back and re-read it, and can happily say that I completely agree with everything I said back then. I might have to re-post that one sometime THANK YOU!
Re: Dyson. I do still love it. The attachments are great. It’s a total pain in my bootie to clean and there’s a lot of maintenance work because the vacuum itself is so powerful that it sometimes gets clogged (um, with my hair), but I’ve always been able to pull everything out and it works like a charm again. I still pull up BUCKETS of grossness off my floor every time I vacuum… so much more than my regular Hoover used to get. The only drawback is that you have to hold the vacuum at a certain angle in order to create the perfect suction – every once in a while I hold it wrong and then have go back and run over the same patch. But would I buy a Dyson again? Absolutely. I still love mine.

I like my budgeting weakness because I’ve gotten serious about running and I have to get a certain type of shoes, socks, race entry fees, etc. They are all really nice because they are original, down to earth and what everyday people really go through.
