On vacation

Posted on August 9, 2008 8 Comments

We’ve geared up at REI, booked budget b&b’s all on the pacific coast, arranged for a housesitter (B’s mom) and spent the last week working insane hours and making preparations at home, and right now we’re driving out of Seattle, rocking out to Pearl Jam, making our way to the San Juan islands for a week of rest, biking, kayaking and enjoying the great outdoors. “>This is why I work the way I do. This is living. Enjoy your week, and I’ll post when I’m back to the grind.

Hi! If you make it to Orcas Island, don’t miss Roche Harbor and the McMillin Mausoleum….creepy but totally cool!!

Also the Rosario Resort on Orcas used to have the best brunch ever and the location/building is A-mazing!

(I hope that link works! If not, ask a local or google, ofcourse.)

    Have a fabulous time!!

    Hey, BB,
I live in greater Seattle too, and there’s really nothing more beautiful than Seattle and the San Juans in the summer, and this week promises to be one of our two weeks of summer…;-)) Have a fabulous time! Glad Jamie posted about the Afterglow Vista Mausoleum, as I’ve lived here my whole life and have never heard of that and will have to visit on my next trip to the SJs. Enjoy!

We just went to the Washington Coast for a reunion last weekend, and it was terrific! My parents honeymooned in the San Juans a million years ago, and it’s a gorgeous place. (Selling that neck of the woods as a vacation spot isn’t hard to do. Plus, it’s right here in the US so you have some additional insurance of security and you miss out on all of those international travel headaches.) Have a great trip!
