Tricks of the trade

I was thinking today that if I set aside just $20 per week between now and Christmas, I’d have an extra $240 to spend on presents this year. Not too shabby.

Nicole,
What a great idea. I NEVER have enough money for the few presents I get and it’s always stressful. I will start this savings right away!

That is a great idea, but I have a hard time doing that… I guess that is why you are the Budgeting Babe!
I find it easier to work on my Christmas list now and pick up a few things at a time from now until Christmas.
It is sooooooo much easier for me to space out my spending than to try and save the money up. It works better for me and it seems like I save money and find presents people like better when I do it this way.

Oh, I like both ideas. I try to buy things here and there all year long for Christmas. But I always end up buying most the month ahead of time. I think that’s a great idea to start just putting money away…I’ve also heard of putting christmas money into your monthy budget then you save all year long rather than go broke in December. Think I will set aside that $20 I found this morning amongst the reciepts in my wallet….I love surprises like that!!!

I have started having $10/week autotransferred into my ING Direct account just to build up the savings and it is quickly growing. Soon I will bump it up to $15/week, then $20. By doing such a small amount I don’t notice it, but it’s nice to see the balance growing in my account.

My trick is to get the presents out of the way NOW. I already have eight people bought for… and have only spent thirty dollars!

Holy cow Vixen! You’re great! Once my bro’s wedding is over I’m going to focus on presents for holidays.
