Happy today

It’s been 14 days without a post! I can’t believe how badly I’m slacking. In my defense, I have been working 12-hour days for the last two weeks so there hasn’t been much time to write (that’s on top of the 2-hour commute). Even today there’s not really time to write, but it’s killing me not to, so here I am.

And as of today, I am officially 28. Since I’m all old and wise now, allow me to dispense some budget-worthy wisdom:

ALWAYS CARRY A TIDE PEN OR SHOUT WIPES IN YOUR PURSE. I believe the Tide Pen retails for under $4.00. This is really important because when you spill something on yourself, you won’t be ruining your $50 sweater. So the little Tide Pen in your purse can really help out your wallet if you have it available at just the right time.

Exhibit A: Tuesday when running (literally) to the orthodontist’s office to get my braces off (YES, THEY’RE FINALLY OFF!!!), I was attempting to lunch-and-run with a blueberry smoothie. Unfortunately for me, several dribbles of the smoothie ended up on my belly instead of inside it. So I ducked into 7-11 and bought the Tide Pen, not really knowing it would work. It didn’t really appear to work on contact, and I was bummed, but 20 mins. later I looked down and all the stains were gone. Now people were free to look at my super-straight teeth instead of my lunch on my shirt.

Exhibit B. This morning I spent an extra 20 mins. getting ready… enough time to make me late for work. It is my birthday, after all, and I’m going out to dinner tonight and I wanted to look extra pretty just for a day. So of course, not only did my bus break down on the way to work, making me obscenely late, but I also spilled a ginormous plop of decaf-soy coffee down the front of my white sweater just as I was walking into the office! I mean, it’s like half my stomach. And I don’t even really drink coffee (and I never do on the bus) but I worked late last night and wanted a treat. So again, Tide Pen to the rescue! It’s gotten most of the coffee out… enough for me to wear my sweater and not be embarrassed. Which is pretty good news.

I have also tried Shout-Wipes, which work equally as good, but the problem with those is that when you keep them in your desk at work, they disappear before you even get to open the box. People spill A LOT of things on themselves during the day, and once they know you’ve got Shout Wipes… well, let’s just say you’ll be a lot of your co-worker’s favorite place to visit. Which is really nice if you like visits (like me… I actually spread the word that I have stain removers), but can be pretty unfortunate when your tuna mustard sandwich spills onto your lap and you’re all out of wipes. So I’m sticking with the Tide Pen for now.

Well, I’ll be back with more things to say, but until then, have a fantastic summer weekend and keep checking back for new posts!

I like the way the Tide pen works, but beware after a couple of weeks, it begins to smell and leaves an awful odor on your clothes, so you have to replace it alot, therefore I prefer the Shout wipes.

Is the Tide pen a new client? :-) I’m sold! Going to Target tonight for this revolutionary product…

No! Not a client of mine at all. I actually don’t blog about my clients even though I really would like to!

I like the Tide Pen, too! It’s a lifesaver sometimes.

Shout wipes can get “old” quickly (they dry out, even in the wrapper); I just changed to the Tide Pen, and it seems to work quicker, better, and hasn’t dried out yet.

A couple weeks ago, I was thinking of buying one of those Tide Pens and passed thinking they couldn’t actually work. Of course, later that day, Murphy showed up and poured coffee on my new shirt.

I just returned from a business trip to LA. I definitely took one of them with me this time. No spills this time. Why is it that when I am prepared for them the bad things don’t happen.

Oh well. Happy Birthday, I turn 28 this Friday. Get some rest.

I have to say I am not a fan of the Shout Wipes. They have ruined 3 different shirts of my husband’s, all of which machine washable, and washed as soon as we got home, but the Shout Wipes left a white stain that will not come out – not even the dry cleaners can get the stains out from the shout wipes (but the original stains are gone). So I am a little timid to try the Tide pen as a result of this.

I love the Tide Pen and have one at work and at home. I find that it works well on deoderant stains but less well on other stains, and can sometimes leave a ‘ring’ on buttondown shirts. Use, but use with caution!
