Meet up?
Posted on April 6, 2007 13 Comments
So I was thinking about doing a meet-up somewhere in Chicago on a Saturday afternoon, someplace where people could just order drinks or lunch off the menu on their own, and we could talk personal finance strategies and perhaps bring in a financial advisor/planner to give us some advice. It would have to be in June, because my trip is in mid-May and I’d want some time to plan ahead.
Anyone interested?

Sounds like a great idea! I could probably make it, depending on when it is. June is usually a pretty busy month for us.

That sounds like a lot of fun! Do you have any places in mind already, or are you still looking for a place to hold it?

are people with like…no strategy as yet welcome? (being 22 and in my first job, I don’t feel like I have much to say, but would love to soak up everyone else’s knowledge!)

No place in mind yet… I was considering doing Bin 36, but I recognize it’s easy to go over on the budget. Maybe Rock Bottom brewery or someplace in that area? Won’t be anything formal. Ideas are welcome.

I would be interested in going if it is going to be something geared towards women. I have been reading your blog for a few months and really appreciate how applicable it is to my life. I live in NW Indiana and am 28 so all your experiences are really helpful.

June is good for me! I live in the city and can make it anytime. I really like the idea of a finicial advisor. Rock Bottom Brewery is a good place.

I’m up for it. Pazzo’s in 311 S. Wacker can create a seperate room.
Nick’s Fish Market is yummy too. But I don’t know if upstairs is open on the weekends.

Nicks is close to my workplace. Maybe the Pier would be best. I can make it any Saturday but the 23rd. My sister would kill me if I missed her bridal shower. =)

Rock Bottom Brewery has 1/2 off appetizers from 4-6 during the week.
We’d love to go, but there’s that whole anonymity thing. I don’t think wearing ski masks would be a good idea.

I’d be interested as well! We’re just getting ready to buy our first condo and my whole budgeting/spending philosophy is going have to change … I’m eager for input
