Kiplinger’s Gives Away $1,000

There are a TON of smart, creative, and generally fabulous people who visit this Web site. Which is great for me, because I’d be an unstable financial mess without all of your advice. (On the other hand, my wardrobe would be a whole lot cuter, ha ha!)

Ordinarily, all I can give you in return are stories about my misfortunes. Yesterday, for instance, I had to walk more than a mile barefoot on hot pavement because the bus never showed up, I left my cell phone at work and my fantasticly chic new shoes gave me blisters. (I think I ruined my very cute navy sailor-ish pants because without the heels, they dragged on the ground. Total disaster.) However, today I have the opportunity to give back. Or at least point you in the direction of someone else who can give back.

If you have a great idea on how to wisely spend $1,000, submit it to Kiplinger’s.com, by clicking here. You can win $1,000 if they like your idea! I’m going to start thinking about what I would do to invest that money … I’ll let you know what I come up with.

Kiplinger’s is a financial magazine that I’m finding suprisingly easy to read, even for a novice like myself. Check out the magazine’s series on what to do with an extra $500 or less, and 47 smart suggestions for spending $1,000. I’m not sure if I like all the ideas, but it’s this kind of creative savings and investment thinking that inspires ordinary folks like you and I to go beyond what we know and get familiar with more diverse investment options.

So grab a glass of wine and get drinking, I mean thinking, about what you’d do with an extra grand.
