Cranky Pants

Oh man, I have got to change my diet. Here’s a summary of what I ate yesterday:

Breakfast: 1 chai latte, with skim milk
1 “cream cheese crumble cake”… I was hoping for non-pastry but couldn’t find anywhere within 5-minute walking distance of my hotel that offered something different. So, cream cheese cake for breakfast it is.
1 bottle of orange vitamin water (which I lost on the convention floor shortly after opening it)

Lunch: 1 lemonade
1 McDonald’s quarter-pounder with cheese
1 medium McDonald’s french fries order
All enjoyed from the convenience of Regan National Airport Gate 31 while finishing up business calls before boarding the plane.

Dinner: 5 mozarella sticks
1 plate of french fries
1 cup of Guinness
Eaten at a smokey bar, watching BU get spanked by Memphis. (I still love them, though.)

No wonder I’m exhausted today. Mozarella sticks for dinner? Who does that? Oh right, someone who’s been traveling all week, working 18-hr days and is ready to fall over from exhaustion. The sticks only serve to hasten my demise.

Today I’m eating a veggie split-pea soup and drinking a strawberry-banana smoothie to repent, in hopes of replenishing my nutrient quotient for the day.

I can’t wait to just stay in tonight and watch TV. I’m tuckered out.

    a) A cup of Guinness? Really?

    b) I hope your mom doesn’t read your blog… even my you-should-eat-well instincts are kicking in.

I’m sorry to say, Reagan National has some of the worst food concessions, even in the main terminal. If I’m lucky enough to time my flights correctly, I will eat at California Pizza Kitchen before I leave. Often the cheapest flights are from Terminal A, which has nothing great to speak of.

Maybe it’s time to focus on being a “food geek” instead of a “credit geek!

That’s some pretty bad eatin’! That’s okay, five days in New York, I had pizza four times, hod dogs twice, bagel with cream cheese twice, and White Castle! Something about the road doesn’t encourage good eating.

Hi, Okay, all my motherly instincts are kicking in. There is nothing that can cost you more than poor health. It doesn’t matter how much money you have if you don’t have the health to enjoy life.

I want to encourage you to experiment with healthy snacks that are easy to carry and to stock your house with good stuff. When you look for healthy, look also for color and texture so it’s a pleasure to eat (My snack of late is apples with natural unsalted peanut butter–juicy, sweet, crunchy, protein…). Don’t be skimpy with good food (you don’t have to get extravigant but this is a foundation): carrot sticks, nuts and dried fruit, fresh fruit. Put fresh fruit in a pretty basket so it’s easy to grab, smells good, looks good.

Your body knows how to process as much fresh, whole stuff as you want to eat. From my experience, it’s the processed stuff that gets people overweight.

    Okay, this is too long…
    Be well and many blessings!

You must mean Boston College, not BU. :-)

Yeah, actually a plastic cup of Guinness. I wish I’d have drank a whole pint, but it was a lame sports bar with bad taps.

Aunt Laya, thank you. I am so thankful for your advice, and humbled by your concern. I’ll try to be better, I promise :)

    Don’t worry.
It’s ok to have junk in moderation.
