Check out MSN’s recent articles on budgeting for some innovative and thoughtful approaches to finance (as well as calculators and quizes):

I’ve been using this so far this year with decent results. It definitely helps define savings goals, but I need more detail when it comes to identifying things to cut etc. But it’s helped me…I’ve posted a couple of times about it, once when i was getting started and then a recent check in post if you’re interested

Nicole, I love saving money and wish I had begun enjoying it a lot earlier in life.
Here’s a money saving tip for your phone bill; drop your long distance carrier. Most people don’t realize they don’t HAVE to choose a long distance carrier and just dropping them altogether and only keeping access to 800 numbers can save you >$20 month.
Then, go to Sam’s (or whereever you can find the cheapest phone card rate) and buy a 2000 minute phone card that you can recharge. Program the 800 # on one of your memory buttons on the phone and program the pin # on another memory button. VOILA. Pick up your phone, hit memory (whatever) then listen. When it asks for the pin# hit memory (whatever) and then dial.
No carrier monthly charge, no PICC fees, no local and state tax, yada yada.

I only have a cell phone, so I don’t even have a long-distance bill
But thanks for the info!
