Drunkin’ Blogging

Hello from Chicago! After my great savings on Friday, I’ve become a spendaholic… but I’m OK with it, because I’ve been drinking German Chocolate Cake martinis at House of Blues. (Heaven in a glass, seriously.) Here’s how my weekend (and Monday) panned out:
Saturday:
Oh boy. I bought a pair of Kenneth Cole pointy black pumps and a pair of Nine West sandals (which are gorgeous!!!!) at DSW and spent approximately $140. I know it’s a lot, but given my shoe closet complex and the fact that I recently lost two pairs of black shoes… I’m weak and I’m sorry. Not really. Yes I am. I can’t decide.
Sunday:
I went to the gym for the first time in….(Drumroll…) TWO MONTHS!!! (Incredibly low per-use theory value; terrible.) Then I met my friends/coworkers Chandra and Idalia at the local pub in Oak Park for dinner and drinks. I spent about $35.00. Argh. Yum.
Monday:
Ouch! I was very sore from working out. Seriously. I had a hard time opening the bathroom door due to lifting weights, and my a$s can hardly move. Must have been in terrible shape before because I have to hold it with my hands to stand up. Really.
After work I went to a restaurant called Volare for some pasta and wine… $29.00 total, not bad. But I killed my budget on $10 martinis at the House of Blues. I’m still trying to decide whether I’m sorry about this or not. Regardless, it’s a pretty cool (but expensive) place to stop in for drinks.
As a sidenote, I’ve been hosting my DC co-worker/friend Idalia, a Budgeting Babe reader, during her first stay in Chicago. Today, she found a pair of $80 shoes at Nordstrom Rack and did not buy them because she thought I WOULD BE DISAPPOINTED!!! Can you believe? Yes, I am proud of her for holding back, but now she’s calling me a traitor for spending so much. Egad!
I’m sorry Idalia, but now you know my true colors… I’d buy the shoes!

Dear Cousin…Why do you go out for drinks in the loop and not call me? See you soon, Love Joe.
