One good thing, I guess, is that I am naturally a pretty frugal (sometimes cheap) person. I think I should be okay if I keep up with my frugal ways like bringing my lunch to work, using coupons, etc. Like the other posters, I am pretty scared about my finances. Despite the economy and markets being unstable, we've chosen to make an offer on a house in the northern rocky mountains. We know we can afford the payment and our jobs are stable, yet we fear the question... where is the bottom of the housing market in our area? And how will it affect the economy in our area? Trying to believe the sun will rise each day, but planning and saving for the worst, too. It seems to me like the stock market is hugely affected by how people feel about it and the economy. If confidence is high, then the stock market rises, if confidence is low, then it falls. It happened during the talks about this whole government bailout plan, stocks rose just because it was going to happen, not because it already had. I find it very interesting and will strive to learn more about it. I’m not too worried about it, but then again that may just be because I don’t know too much about it yet. So do two wrongs make a right? Seems it will in this scenario. The world doesn't end. The sun came up today and I believe it will come up tomorrow too. Attempting to control your behaviors is far more important than attempting to control your investments. I think a walk in the park is just what people need. Turn off 24/7 news, get off the net and go enjoy life. Things will get better, they always do. We have none, it's kind of weird to run around big city of Atlanta to try to find gas, lines are long and tempers flair. People wait in line for hours to get gas, on top of it gas is the highest here than anywhere in the country right now (except CA I think) Now that worries me more than economy. Started up a business. Bought my first condo. Going through bankruptcy. Trying to move to a budget that isn't paycheck to paycheck and wondering if the economy will support that or make it harder. Taxes made me quit smoking so I consider that a good thing. And my boyfriend was able to jump on lower housing costs to buy his first condo. I'm not saying the recession is a good thing but it's been good to us thus far. My retirement account has gone down a little but I just started contributing a couple of months ago and don't need to draw on it for probably at least thirty years.
