Shoot, I was 25 when I got my first loans and they scared me then...nevermind being 18 and fresh out of high school! My single best piece of advice is to utilize the financial aid counsellors at your school. Their only job is to help you through the entire process!!! They are godsends and are a HUGE help! In addition, I have found the customer service agents at Direct Loan (federal lending service) to be very helpful as well. Navigating student loans can be a very scary process! Shoot, I was 25 when I got my first loans and they scared me then…nevermind being 18 and fresh out of high school!
