We had all intentions of only staying for a few hours and taking the 5pm ferry back to Galway, when we didn't make it back to the port on time. We wound up frantically searching all the B&Bs on the island, hoping that they would have an open room for us on such short notice. Turns out, a litle yellow B&B not too far from the ferry port had an opening. The woman running it was the nicest person I've met...she even lent us 50 euro because the only ATM on the island was broken (so bring cash if you go). The island has lots to offer...one side of the island is the beach side, the other is the cliff side which is reminiscent of the Cliffs of Moher....a thatched-roof pub...bike rental...ancient monuments...and more. So memorable...

www.visitaranislands.com

Ireland is wonderful. Have fun. If I can make any Ireland recommendations, I would make this one:

I stopped there a few years ago and we got a reasonable deal through Expedia.co.uk (I'm based in the UK). It's a bit out of Dublin, but easily commutable by train and taxi, plus you can get a bus from the airport which drops you just down the road from it. The breakfast was to die for, the service fab and it was just a beautiful place to stay. Found a link to it here: http://www.ariel-house.net/?r=14348

Hope that helps you a bit? Your current b&b person can recommend places where you are headed. Or you try the tourist center in almost every town.

Slainte! My wedding and honeymoon involved travel between multiple cities, so although I typically plan vacations without a travel agent, we used one for the wedding/honeymoon. We gave her specific information on what we were looking for (we even had a few places in mind) and our budget, and she got us a great deal. I'm assuming we budgeted more for our honeymoon than you are for the trip, but any travel agent worth their salt can work within the confines of a budget. Also, many specialize in specific areas, so they have inside information (and deals!) to pass on. Additionally, they receive their commission from the hotels and inns they work with, so you won't pay a dime.

Good luck!
