Walmart is made in China. Calvin Klein is made in China. The workmanship is the same; only the price, depending on the "name" brand, makes it different. I think you're best off to buy something very classic (navy or black camelhair coat, leather fur-lined gloves, cashmere scarf in tan or grey) that is of good quality and forget about the "name" brands. You're paying triple the price for the quality to get the "name." There are good quality, classic items out there, but they're not usually at Calvin Klein or J. Crew. You look like a "classic" person to me anyway and deserving of way better than fall-apart, trendy, "name" brands! Don't put yourself down, my dear! Meanwhile, my 60 dollar Target wool coat has held up fantastically for 3 years. One button is finally starting to come loose... easily fixed. :-)

I'm sorry about the coat - I've made purcases like that as well. Like my 80 dollar blouse with a thin crochet overlay that got four pulls in it the first day. *rolling eyes* Oh so true. OP Avenue! They do a really nice job.

They don't just repair shoes :) You can also take your gloves in to get repaired at Tony’s Shoe Repair on N. OP Avenue! They do a really nice job.

The zipper broke on my coat too and Nordstrom took it back after a year and refunded my total purchase price which I put towards the purchase of my 3/4 length North Face down coat. I love it. Sorry to hear about Macy's and the bad customer service. Stay warm and safe-it's a bad weather day here in Chicago! I had a Calvin Klein coat a few years ago-got it from Nordstrom. I agree that you should take the gloves back to J.Crew. As for Macy's, they are HORRIBLE about fixing things they sell. I have a pair of Ralph Lauren jeans that I ended up having to fix myself because they said it couldn't be done. Irritating! Sorry to hear that you are having that kind of trouble. Crew will definitely exchange the gloves. You don't need the receipt - they don't have a time limit on defective items. They've been great every time something I buy has something wrong with it (they even took back a 6-month-old bikini that had bleached out in a hotel pool - it was the hotel's fault). I've had shirts and bras from them that have lasted for ages, but I've also bought knickers that fell apart after two wears. (And yes, I take them back if they fall apart, even though they're underwear. I just wash them first so they're hygeinic :) Calvin Klein isn’t all shoddy, it’s just terribly inconsistent. Crew and let them know how disappointed you are in their products (a link to this post won't hurt, either!). At worst, you won't get a response. At best, you might get your coat fixed or gift certificates. Drop a letter to both Calvin Klein and J.
